Bungie has officially revealed that "Destiny: The Taken King" will be having the Sparrow Racing League, which is set to debut new maps located in Mars and Venus.
The American video game developer made the announcement at the PlayStation Experience 2015 which was held at Moscone West in San Francisco, California from Dec. 5, Saturday, to Dec. 6, Sunday.
Likewise, the first ever official Sparrow racing event in Bungie's first-person shooter game will be a special, limited event that will start on Dec. 8, Tuesday and end on Dec. 29, according to Latinos Post. In total, the racing series will only be available for three weeks.
Many gamers of "Destiny" have been clamoring to have such a racing event since 2014, so much so that unofficial, community competitions have been organized for the players' Sparrows to be used. Thus, the inspiration for the official Sparrow Racing League came from the effort of the dedicated gaming community.
Moreover, brand new maps will be added in Mars and Venus since those areas are incredibly appropriate for Sparrow racing events. Aside from the maps, special edition gears can be obtained just by participating in the race while the best, exclusive equipment will be awarded to the winners.
In order to join the Sparrow Racing League, a player must update the "Destiny" game that should have the "Taken King" expansion already. Next, gamer's character should go to the Tower and look for Amanda Holliday, who will be the official Quartermaster of the racing event.
Similarly, players can also approach Tess while Eververse Trading will be preparing a beautiful, stylish flair to commemorate the Sparrow Racing League.
Aside from the forthcoming Sparrow Racing League that will be available for both Xbox and PS gamers, Bungie has also promised PlayStation users that "Destiny" will be providing more events, gears and rewards in 2016.
Meanwhile, the December update of "Destiny" will include changes for the powerful Sunbreakers that have become criticized by players for breaking the balance of the game between the classes, according to Forbes.
Despite this, Bungie has promised that Defenders and Strikers will be getting some tweaks once Update 2.1.0 becomes available.
"Destiny: The Taken King" was released on Sept. 15 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One consoles.
