Action star Tom Cruise may play lead role in Universal Studios feature of classic monsters on the big screen titled "The Mummy Reboot," with details of the new casting remaining to be seen from the upcoming blockbuster movie.
As reported in Variety, a reliable source claims that Cruise is in the process of negotiating with the studio. Although there are no feedbacks yet from the studio, avid fans approve of Cruise starring in the upcoming movie, especially with his recent success of the "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" series.
If Cruise could sign a contract for the project, he will succeed Brendan Fraser who played the lead role in three of its previous films. The soon-to-be blockbuster film will be directed by Alex Kurtzman, with screenplay scripted by Jon Spaights.
The official summary of the film has not been released yet; however, the film will focus on Tyler Colt, a Navy Seal member who will go on his quest to find terrorists hiding in a bunker in an Iraqi desert. Soon they realize that the terrorists they are hunting are actually grave robbers who are now inexplicably dead.
Upon entering the bunker, Colt and his team surrender to an inexplicable force, and eventually find out that the bunker is a tomb. Disturbance happens and only Colt remains alive among all Navy Seal members.
Aside from "The Mummy Reboot," Universal Studios is also set to release other monster movies like "Van Helsing," "The Bride of Frankenstein," "Frankenstein," "The Invisible Man" and "Dracula." They will eventually appear in an Avenger-style film.
Chris Morgan, Robert Orci, Sean Daniel, along with director Kurtzman, are set to produce the new film. It should be out in big screens on March 24, 2017, where details of the project will be revealed in time.
