A leaked render showcasing the front side of the Xiaomi Mi 5 surfaced and is expected to be unveiled on Jan. 21, 2016.
The newest Xiaomi Mi 5 render shows that it will be the first ever handset from the company to feature a physical Home button. The handset was previously speculated to feature an ultrasound fingerprint scanner, but new rumors indicate that a conventional fingerprint scanner will be sitting underneath the physical Home button, Gizmo China reported.
Xiaomi Mi 5 Specs
The smartphone is rumored to house a 5.2-inch display that will support Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. It will also support for Force Touch technology, a feature that will let the screen distinguish between different kinds of touch pressures. Even though the leaked render of Mi 5 shows the front panel, it is heavily rumored to arrive with a metallic design.
It will be powered by Snapdragon 820 SoC. It will arrive in two inbuilt storage editions; the 32GB model will be available with 3GB of RAM whereas the 64GB version will be equipped with 4GB of RAM.
The smartphone will run with Android 6.0 and MIUI 7 preinstalled. The main camera of the Xiaomi Mi 5 will be 21MP whereas its selfie camera will be of 8 MP.
Xiaomi Mi 5 release date and pricing
Xiaomi Mi 5 rumors suggest that it will be showcased to the world on Jan. 21 and the handset will be available for purchase. According to Phone Arena, the 32GB and 64GB Xiaomi Mi 5 variants are likely to cost $311 and $389, respectively. A large-sized version of the handset called Xiaomi Mi 5 Plus is also expected to launch along with Mi 5.
