According to the latest rumors, "Pokémon Go's" Google's past in-house augmented in-house reality developer, commonly referred to as Niantic Labs, has finally openly opened new offices in Tokyo, Japan.
The "Ingress" creator had made headlines earlier in the year when it disclosed that it would collaborate with the Pokémon Company and Nintendo to develop "Pokémon Go." The development would feature a smartphone title that would challenge players to capture Pokémon in the real world through the magic of the AR.
According to a report released by, Dr. Serkan Toto, A Japanese video game expert, Niantic's Tokyo office will aid the studio to push on with the development of "Pokémon Go," and probably create a new platform that uses mapping tech and AR.
"Generally speaking, Japanese gaming companies - I mean Nintendo in this specific case - love going vertical by becoming platforms if any opportunity to do so opens up." Said Toto, as he offered to take on Niantic's recent expansion. He also added that it could very well be that Pokémon is not the sole Nintendo mobile game that will employ of AR and GPS in the future.
According to more reports from the company, Niantic will take on the purposes of developing top-level real-world games (like "Pokemon Go") and a platform of using advanced technologies for the same, HNGN reported.
Specifically, the CEO of Niantic Proper said that the platform will serve as a new business that he would want to see develop quicker through the companies branch in Japan.
