"The Walking Dead" season 6 new cast members Jeffrey Dean Morgan recently explained why he's the right actor to play the role of Negan.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Morgan revealed her excitement for landing the titular role of the villainous character.
According to him, he is familiar with Negan because he's read about him in the comic books. The actor added that he also attends Comic-con regularly.
Meanwhile, Morgan revealed that a lot of people already told him that he should play Negan on "The Walking Dead." At that time, the actor still wasn't in talks with the producers of the hit AMC show.
"So I started reading the comic books just because I'm a fan and I love what Kirkman is doing and so I was very aware of Negan and had quite read a bit of the comic books," he said.
A few years later, Morgan was on the plane when he got a call from his manager informing him that he was cast for an undisclosed role.
"'The Walking Dead' have offered you this thing,' but they didn't have any information. They didn't know the character's name. It was all a big secret," he shared.
In other news, Morgan also shared that he already met almost all of the cast members on "The Walking Dead" season 6, and this includes actor Steven Yeun.
"I met everybody. I got a chance to say hello to everybody down there. That being said, I don't know what's going to happen yet," he said.
"The Walking Dead" season 6 will return to AMC sometime next year.
