"Fallout 4" Nexus Mods have earned the reputation of being the most-reliable third-party mod source. However, due to a security breach discovered recently at the site, several Nexus users became wary of using Nexus Mods.
The Nexus Mods have revealed may have been a victim of cyber-attack, Nexus Mods revealed during the weekend. The site revealed that the administration was alerted when a Reddit user published a post that included text in the email from one security company dispersing a warning of a possible Nexus security breach.
The team worked on the issue for a few days before they were able to confirm the said breach. They were also able to assess the extensiveness of the breach.
Nexus suggested that the person or group responsible was not actually able to compromise the entire database of the site. The report also mentioned that they have reviewed the data dump reference on Reddit, and one of the admins of Nexus Mods, Dark0ne, informed that the breach is not going to affect Nexus users who created an account after July 22, 2013.
Apparently, the cyber attackers were unable to get hold of a full copy of the site's database. There have been queries about the amount of data the attackers stole from the older accounts, but the site is still advising all its users to take the time and change their account's password. This also goes for all the other websites where they have used that same password.
