Google, the world's search giant, is to give access virtual reality to the masses as a smartphone app lets phone users to take 3D which is a virtual reality-ready photographs.
The new virtual-reality camera app was launched by the search giant, a VR app that could be used with the Android mobile software, CNET reported.
This Google VR app can take 3D pictures that users can view in Cardboard, the report said.
Product manager for Mountain View Maike Podwal of Google said that it is a mission of Google to bring virtual reality to people to capture a moment by the use of this app, the report added.
"It's a really powerful way to understand a moment in time," Podwal said.
This mission by Google is also shared with Facebook. It can be noted that Facebook bought Oculus, a VR goggle maker, for $2 billion last 2014. On the other hand, Oculus had collaborated with Samsung to create the $99-headset Gear VR. In addition, Google had collaborated with GoPro, an action-camera maker, to create Jump. This Jump will make VR videos, the report added.
This Cardboard ideally transforms a computer into one's pocket by the VR headset, Technology Review reported.
According to Clay Bavor, the virtual-reality project head of Google, will be a game changer in different industries, the report said. "Virtual reality will have an important role to play in entertainment, communications, work, and learning," Bavor said in the report.
The Google's VR project head also said that the Google Cardboard would be the company create the immersive experiences available for the people, the report added.
