New details on the "Spider-Man 2017" reboot will likely featured Mary Jane Watson, big expectations for the web-slinger in the MCU and Spidey having three costumes in "Captain America: Civil War".
"In the Heart of the Sea" star Tom Holland talked about several big expectations for his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in both "Captain America: Civil War" and 2017 reboot film as he told The Daily Beast that the "Spider-Man 2017" film could be the biggest independent film yet, because Marvel Studios are trying to do something different on how Spidey will look like and what his purpose in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The "Spider-Man 2017" film will explore Peter Parker/Spider-Man's (Holland) early days as a hero as he struggles to balance both his school life and being a costumed vigilante. Holland stated that the web-slinger was his favorite due to the fact that character can relate to everyone that even with great power, he has the same problems as everyone else and he compare's this version to John Hughes.
Holland added that he found out that he was Spider-Man when scrolled down on Instagram and saw the announcement that he was chosen to play the role of Peter Parker and stated he went "nuts" on the announcement.
In other news, several rumors are making rounds that Spider-Man's love interest Mary Jane Watson could be added in the 2017 reboot.
Director John Watts stated in an interview that he expressed an interest in putting Mary Jane Watson in the film as opposed to Gwen Stacy. Several fans speculated that Watts' reasons for adding Mary Jane Watson into the film is due to the source materials that he would like to use in making the film like "Ultimate Spider-Man" and "Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane". It was speculated "Divergent" star Shailene Woodly is being eyed for the role in scrapped "The Amazing Spider-Man 3" film before to Marvel's announcement of adding Spidey to the MCU, The Christian Post reported.
Lastly, Spider-Man will likely wear three costumes in "Captain America: Civil War" as the Iron Spider suit could make an appearance, given that the costume was given by Iron Man to Peter in the "Civil War comics. Spider-Man's two other costumes would be a home made version and the classic blue and red outfit with the fat spider logo and webbed underarms.
Spider-Man will appear first in "Captain America: Civil War" on May 6, 2016 and his new solo film on July 28, 2017.
