Google's release date plans for the third installment of it Nexus 7 tablet will likely happen in the few months ahead, as early as May 2016, as the immediate predecessor of the rumored vanilla Android slate, the Asus-made Nexus 7 2013, now sells for dirt-cheap $119.99 at Groupon.
Tech Times reported that the 2-year old Google tab has become more affordable than most of the competition though an earlier Groupon promo saw the device's lowest price mark $99.99. Regardless, the current level remains tempting if tablet shoppers are looking for pure Android experience, which is the exact case in the Google-sanctioned device.
Or Android fans can simply wait for a few more months as the old and tested business model dictates that outgoing device shrinking the price mark could mean that manufacturers are on the clear inventory mode to make way for the new and upcoming builds. So the Nexus 7 2013 becoming cheaper means that the third version is on its way, that is if the same business practice still applies.
The latest word from China indicates that development of the third-gen Nexus 7, or even its early production phase, is already underway and the chosen assemble will also come from the same country - Nexus 6P maker Huawei.
Rumors have it that Google has tasked Huawei to put together a new Nexus 7 that is vastly different from the first two models and the direct reference would be the premium Nexus 6P smartphone. The new slate, therefore, is expected to unbox with solid build and finish plus the accompanying top-tier specifications.
What precisely the new Nexus 7 specs would be remains a question mark. However, the recently unveiled Google Pixel C tablet could provide some clues. The device is powered by NVIDIA's Tegra XI processing chip with support from up to 3GB of RAM, which could be the mighty combo that buyers of the third Nexus 7 version will get.
And the 7-inch screen profile will likely boast of 2K display resolution or 2560 x 1800 screen pixels, which should be in line with the 2016 flagship specs that are being attributed to the new Nexus 7.
The speculations are rife that the Nexus 7 2016 intro will coincide with the 2016 edition of the annual Google I/O Developers Conference, which could very well serve as gadget's release date moment. In the same occasion, Android N, the sequel to Android 6.0 Marshmallow, is likely to be unleashed and should come out of the box with the 3rd-gen Nexus 7.
