Open-source application deployment Docker is reportedly working out on increasing its enterprise security policy by using CloudPassage Halo System, eWeek reported.
Container technology, including Docker's open-source container technology that is almost comparable with the likes of Linux OS and Hypervisor offerings, is a success when it comes to isolating resources though it lacks secure management and administration, said Gartner Research Director Jeorg Fritsch to ZDNET.
Docker deployments were Linux OS-based though its container framework has been recently moved to OpenSolaris.
Since Docker gained huge popularity in deploying applications, it needs more stable platform and this is where the San Francisco-based CloudPassage comes into play.
CloudPassage, which was founded by Talli Somekh, Carson Sweet, and Vitaliy Geraymovych in 2010, is a security company that keeps public and private enterprise customers to be compliant in cloud environments by maintaining their data infrastructure safe and secure via Software as a service, or most commonly known as SaaS. According to IT Business Edge, the security company helps and allows IT businesses to enforce company policies, to monitor changes and detect vulnerabilities and intrusions.
To help Docker maintain its security, CloudPassage is determined to provide a new and flexible approach to protect the open-source container technology even at a deeper lever. They are aimed to provide monitoring application tools, which includes file integrity monitoring, security-vulnerability assessment and even firewall micro-segmentation, to secure both Docker Engine and its container.
CloudPassage Halo Security System is currently being used and is working with various vendor technologies such Windows Azure, Amazon Web Services, Rackspace and VMware.
