Microsoft recently released an update to the Bing for iOS app which adds a handful of new features which include Uber integration, support for GIF images and barcode scanner.
The new Uber integration into Bing for iOS will offer real-time data straight from Uber's servers. Users can simply tab on the "Get a Ride" button and the app will instantly display how many available cars are within the surrounding area. The Uber integration came just days after the company released the universal app on Windows 10.
Another new feature on Bing is the barcode scanner. Scanning a certain product using the new feature will give users information about that product from other retail stores. This new feature will allow users to compare product prices from different retail outlets. The feature supports major retailers like Walmart, Target and Amazon, Home Depot and Macys, according to NDTV.
Microsoft also added support for GIF images on the new version of Bing for iOS. The new feature allows users to simply swipe left or right in order to browse through images.
Despite all these interesting updates, Microsoft made a strange decision by ditching one of Bing's unique search features. According to The Next Web, the new version of Bing for iOS drops the "shake and search" feature. It is a quick access search tool where users only need to shake their smartphone and then say their inquiry.
The new Bing for iOS update was released just one month after Microsoft rolled out Bing version 6.0 for iPhone and iPad devices.
