It seems that UFC Women's Bantamweight title holder Holly Holm may have to wait longer than July 9 for her to have a fight. However, Lenny Fresquez, manager of Holm is asking UFC not to make Holm "a prop" in its "Ronda Rousey stage production."
Fresquez, after a meeting with UFC officials, got the proposal for the July 9 rematch but believes Rousey may not be ready for another bout after losing to Holm on Nov. 14 in Melbourne, Australia. He points out that by July 16, it would be eight months since that epic match. "Holly's used to staying active," he stresses.
UFC has imposed a six-month medical suspension on Rousey because of the injuries she sustained during the Nov. 14 fight, including bruises on the face and damage to her teeth that she could until July 16 not eat an apple and other hard foods.
Rousey says if she loses to Holm in the rematch, she would quit mixed martial arts fighting. "However, if she wants me to be the best she needs to beat the best, and that's me at my best, not a depleted mirror of myself - which is what she is hoping for by forcing me to 135," Oceansidepost quotes the former champ.
Meanwhile, Spokane police arrested on Sunday a UFC bantamweight fighter, Julianna Pena, for kicking two men in the groin. Prior to the groin-kicking incident, Pena and her training partner, Josh Gow, tried to enter Zola's bar after being involved in a street fight, reports Bloodyellow.
Because Gow's face was bloodied from the street fight, the two tried to enter the bar to use the bathroom, but bar employees did not allow them because Zola was still close. This led Pena to kick the bar owner and an employee.
Pena is ranked number 5 in the UFC's bantamweight division. Her last fight which she won was against Jessica Eyer at UFC 192. Pena is out on bail and scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 30.
