News is spreading like a wildfire that "The Divergent Series: Allegiant" Part I and Part II will be titled as "The Divergent Series: Ascendant."
The last movie is just months away from its premiere, but fans cannot stop talking about this sudden change and why it was titled "Ascendant." Since the name of the movie has changed from "Divergent" to "Ascendant," fans urge Veronica Roth to also change the ending of the movie with Tris surviving the ordeal.
Confirmation From Roth
Veronica Roth boldly says that the novel will have the same ending as the movie. There will be no change at all. Since the ideas of the novel moves towards Tris' death, there is no point in making her survive. She got to attain salvation via death, and Tris' survival is going to undermine the story of the novel.
Roth's Comment
Taking care of the feelings of others, Roth remarks that she has already thought about different options; however, she feels that Tris' survival will not do justice to the plot of the novel or even the life of Tris. The intense transformation coming in the character of Tris can only be stated by death. Tris' survival will take us to an altogether different sunset which will malign the beauty of the novel. The ending here is more powerful, hence.
Shailene Woodley herself is supporting Roth's decision, saying that she made a wonderful conclusion by not changing the ending. "Divergent: Ascendant" is going to feature a lot of characters and background stories. Tris' mother would be seen as the young girl in it.
On March 2016, "Divergent Series: Ascendant" will be released in theatres.
