Australian golfer Robert Allenby, 43, claimed having survived after he was kidnapped, beaten, robbed and dumped in a park in Honolulu, Hawaii, Daily Mail reported.
In the evening of Jan. 16, Friday, Allenby was at the tourist-laden Waikiki's Amuse Wine Bar with his friend Anthony Puntoriero. Prior to this, the golfer had missed the cut at the Sony Open in Honolulu and planned to go back to Australia on Jan. 17, Saturday.
According to Allenby, the suspects may have taken him to an underground car park after drugging him. He assumed he was knocked out and robbed of his wallet, cash, credit cards and mobile in the park and was thrown into the boot of a car.
When he woke up, Allenby said he found himself in the park that was around six miles away from the bar. He was feeling groggy with injuries in his face including wounds in his forehead and nose.
After the incident, Allenby said he is just glad to be alive and he should be okay after a doctor has checked him out although he is still in a bit of shock.
Allenby explained that he was separated from his friend in the bar after they had paid the tab.
"Next thing you know, I'm being dumped in a park miles away," the golf star told Mirror. "A homeless woman found me and told me she saw a few guys pull up and throw me out of a car."
Having no memory of what happened after the incident, Allenby was helped by "a retired military guy" who paid for him to return to his hotel, where he called the cops.
