"Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" is currently on its way to becoming one of the best selling movie in the industry. The J.J. Abrahams' helmed film has been getting best reviews amid the absence of George Lucas in the production team.
Fans of the franchise have something to smile about after the movie delivered according to their expectations, and now it is crucial to focus on the business aspect. While "Episode VII" has been in theater for a few days only, it is racking in the cash roster, according to Fox News.
Rentrak senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian revealed via CNBC, "They (Disney) are going to probably make, at the end of the day, on this first film alone worldwide, just box office in theaters, probably over $2 billion."
Reportedly, two films - Titanic (1997) and Avatar (2009) by James Cameron -only have bitten the elusive $2 billion mark.
The analyst added, "They made a great movie, that's what really does it. If the movie was disappointing, it could have backed down the road all of the success of each additional film, because this sets the stage and the tone for how well the movie is going to do, and all successive properties under the 'Star Wars' brand."
Dergarabedian as well unveiled the rest of revenue sources from the film including very famous merchandise - action figure and bed sheets.
"Episode VII" will feature two lead characters: scavenger Rey (Daisy Ridley) and former Stormtrooper Finn (John Boyega). In addition to the new faces, the movie will star long time characters including Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and evil Kylo Ren (Adam Driver). These two characters will be propelled to greater heights comparable to what happened to Harrison Ford third years ago.
