The 74-year-old actor added that he just learned more about the plot last night and discovered that "X-Men: Apocalypse" will focus more on the lives of the younger mutants.

Stewart played Professor X and McKellen portrayed Magneto since the "X-Men" franchise started in the year 2000. The pair last appeared on "X-Men: Days of the Future Past" in 2014.

Although the next movie will not feature the two actors, they may still appear in upcoming "X-Men" spinoffs such as post apocalypse films, "Deadpool" with Ryan Gosling and Gambit movie with Channing Tatum.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will take place in the 1983, therefore, most of the characters will be portrayed by younger celebrities.  James Mc Avoy who played the younger Professor X and Michael Fassbender who played the younger Magneto in "X-Men: Days of the Future Past" will reprise their roles in the upcoming franchise.

Mc Avoy previously said that the plot has not yet been revealed to him but the only thing he is certain about is he will have shorter hair, according to Cinema Blend.

Other than Professor X and Magneto, Director Bryan Singer revealed that the upcoming franchise will focus also on Mystique played by Jennifer Lawrence and Beast portrayed by Nicolas Hoult.

The super villain Apocalypse will be played by Oscar Isaac. Apocalypse is reportedly the first ever mutant who appears to have grey and blue skin. The villain will reportedly be invincible with his superpowers such as telekinesis, teleportation, exceptional strength, immunity and the capacity to fly.

The conflict will reportedly arise when Apocalypse enlists other mutants he deems as less powerful than him as slaves.  In the comic books, the villain fought and killed Dracula to gain more power.

Fans can enjoy "X-Men: Days of the Future Past" as it opens in theatres on May 27, 2016.
