Steam unveils the top selling games of the year in a preliminary report and comes up with several lists that vary according to regional and worldwide results.

The report reveals that "Grand Theft Auto V" of Rockstar Games is the best-selling game in 2015 after it sold almost 3.6 million copies. Trailing behind it is "Fallout 4" (2.5 million), "ARK: Survival Evolved" (2.2 million), "H1Z1" (2 million) and "Rocket League" (1.9 million).

The list covers sales data of the games that were recorded from April to December.

"I don't have any data before that," Steam Spy creator Sergey Galyonkin told GameSpot.

It is interesting to note that "Grand Theft Auto V" is also the top-selling game this year in the United Kingdom while it ranked second in other markets such as the United States, Russia and Germany.

12. "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" (764,721 owners)

13. "Killing Floor 2" (723,375 owners)

These rankings were made based on unit sales and not on revenue, Kotaku reported. While some of the titles have been released since January, the sales performance of each title from April to December had been the basis for the ranking as mentioned earlier.

Galyonkin promised to release the final results in January and said that more data will be added such as charts by revenue.
