A latest report from Xbox Wire revealed that the company will be launching a "Minecraft" content pack that features the characters of the beloved cartoon show "The Simpsons." The new content will be available for download in late February.

The "Simpsons" content pack will be released only on Xbox according to Microsoft, the company that bought the "Minecraft" game for $2.5 billion. The head of the Microsoft's Xbox division Phil Spencer said, "We have an active community of more than 17 million die-hard Minecrafters on Xbox Live enjoying the wide range of downloadable content on Xbox and they have been clamoring for us to bring Simpsons characters to the game." He also added that the company is pleased with the current tie-up with Twentieth Century Fox and Gracie Films, the producers of "Simpsons" tv-series.

The pack will be released for $1.99 and will include the characters of Homer, Marge, Bart, Maggie and Lisa along with 19 addition characters taken from the animated series. Several skin packs has been previously released that features famous character from different shows and games, most notable of this is "Star Wars," "Marvel Avengers," "Skyrim" and "Halo."  

Microsoft has yet to confirm whether the new content will be made available for player in different platforms like the PlayStation or PC.

"Minecraft" has recently set 12 different world records including the Best-Selling Indie Game and Most-Played Xbox Live game, according to IGN. 

The game is an open sandbox games originally developed by the Swedish independent company Mojang, subsequently the company was bought by Microsoft on September 2014. As of October 2014 more than 60 million copies of the game has been sold on different gaming platforms including PC and mobile devices, making the game one of the best-selling video game of all time.
