Xbox One controllers can be quick-charged in less than one minute in the future, thanks to the new accessory Super Charger by Performance Designed Products (PDP). The company claims that its ultra-fast full charge will provide 10 to 12 hours of gameplay. This will help to provide almost non-stop gaming while eliminating the need to keep some spare AA batteries near the Microsoft console's controllers.
PDP chief technology officer Tom Roberts pointed out that the Super Charger will minimize interruptions in game play sessions, according to IGN. It provides a one-minute quick break that could allow gamers a chance to grab a snack or check their mobile devices for text messages.
Slash Gear points out that one key feature in the Super Charger's photo is a large protuberance in the center of the battery pack. It is unclear if the extra plastic would add a significant amount of weight to the quick charger.
A hands-on will be available during Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2016 in early January. PDP has not released any details about availability or price points yet.
In other hot Xbox One news, Microsoft underestimated the holiday demand for its Elite controller. It had originally determined that the $150 price tag was too high, but it is already out of stock at BestBuy.com, Amazon, Target.com, and GameStop.com, according to Time.
Microsoft told Time that new Elite controller units will arrive at retailers each week, but limited supplies could be available until March 2016.
The Elite controller includes various special features. They include hair trigger locks and a textured pad.
