Following her unexpected win over UFC Women's Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, new champ Holly Holm signed a multiyear contract extension with UFC.
The 34-year-old MMA fighter signed the new contract in Las Vegas on Saturday, discloses Lenny Fresquez, the manager of Holm, reports ESPN. It is customary for UFC to sign new champions to a new contract. Holm's first contract with UFC was in July 2014.
Before Holm, UFC also signed to a new contract Fabricio Werdum to defend his new Heavyweight title in a rematch against Cain Velasquez, whom he defeated in June at UFC 188. The contract involved eight fights and seven figures, reports MMA News.
The official declaration before of UFC is that Holm's next fight is a rematch with Rousey on July 9. However, the camp of Holm had expressed concern that it is a long wait for Holm amid speculations that Rousey may not be medically fit to fight again by mid-2016.
Holm wants to have a bout first with Miesha Tate before a rematch with Rousey. Tate was supposed to be Rousey's next match had she won over Holm in Melbourne.
