Chinese popstar Lu Han has released a music video on Thursday for "Inner Force," the official Chinese theme song for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
Lu Han is Disney's official "honorary Jedi" and ambassador for the film in China.
The video features shots of the baby-faced Lu Han singing and dancing in a warehouse setting, spliced together with footage taken from the film.
The music video is expected to go viral in China, where Lu commands a massive online following. He has almost 12 million viewers on his Sina Weibo account, and he holds the Guinness World Record for the most comments on a single post.
Lu Han's boyish looks, hairstyle and army of female fans across Asia have often given him the distinction of "China's answer to Justin Bieber."
In March, Disney already announced that Lu would be serving in the "Jedi Order" as an honorary member. He appeared prominently in the Chinese arm of Disney's marketing campaign for the film.
Lu Han is a former member of the Chinese branch of Asian boy band EXO, known as EXO-M (for Mandarin).
Back in December, the South Korean branch of EXO, known as EXO-K, released a music video entitled "Lightsaber" as part of the promotions and marketing for the South Korean release of the film.
EXO's label S.M. Entertainment has had collaborations with The Walt Disney Company before. The music video was part of a larger promotions campaign that was seen as the next step in the partnership of the two companies.
The film debuted in South Korea on Dec. 17.
On Oct. 10, 2014, Lu Han filed a lawsuit against S.M. Entertainment to render his contract void, effectively removing him from the line-up of EXO-M.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opens in China on Jan. 9.
