Rumors are spreading fast on Filipino brand Cherry Mobile buying controlling shares of JiaYu, who were in a bad shape last year.

There are reports that Cherry Mobile had already partnered with JiaYu in the past, being the ODM for developing the Flare X range of phones which were released in 2015. The news of Cherry Mobile buying the stake of JiaYu had been kept as a secret till date, going by reports from insiders of the Chinese mobile company.

The news comes from the Product Manager of the local brand Mr. Lonson Alejandrino. This makes the Filipino brand acquiring the capability of manufacturing their own devices. It was learnt that the deal was made in the middle of last year, and for reasons unknown, it had been kept as a secret. With this, news is that JiaYu will henceforth run their own business, although Cherry Mobile is expected to tap the same market.

There is further news that a new pinoy-designed smartphone is scheduled to enter the market, with Cherry Mobile taking the responsibility of marketing ad selling while the manufacturing end will be taken careof by JiaYu. Although the rumor is still unconfirmed, it is expected that full details of the deal will be available sometime within the next few weeks.

This revelation is expected to give Cherry Mobile advantage over others, as they will be able to introduce cheaper smartphones, tablets and other mobile accessories, which till date, they have not been able to do. It comes as a great milestone for the local brand, which makes them capable of designing their own phones with JiaYu being the manufacturer.

All eyes are now on the upcoming pinoy-designed smartphone, scheduled to be introduced by the Filipno brand.
