Apple has already announced it will host the company's annual spring event on March 15, and speculations are rife that the Cupertino-headquartered tech behemoth is likely to launch a new iPhone 5se, the iPad Air 3 and an improved second-gen Apple Watch, which is expected to be called Watch S.
However, Business Insider reported that the next-gen Apple Watch will be launched in fall, alongside the purported iPhone 7 and iPhone 7s. On the other hand, 9To5Mac claimed that the Cupertino giant may hold a demo of WatchOS 2.2 at the March event.
Quoting well-known analyst Gene Master, Business Insider reported that the next-gen Apple Watch will come with added feature. While the device is unlikely to have any radical design changes, one can expect the next edition of the smartwatch to incorporate an in-built Wi-Fi connectivity and a FaceTime camera.
If Munster is to be believed, the next iteration of Apple Watch will have an upgraded and powerful processor and a relatively larger battery. He hinted that the Watch S will be built on the lines of Apple's S line devices - iPhone 5s and 6s - wherein the design will remain the same, but the configurations under the hood would be modified.
A report by IB Times said that the WatchOS 2.2 may be capable of synchronizing several Apple Watches to one iPhone. In addition, the software is likely to come with a novel functionality, which according to rumors, will be linked to the Maps app.
All said and done tipsters and the tech media are still uncertain regarding the exact features and specs of Apple Watch 2 and its possible launch date. Nevertheless Munster has a reputation of predicting Apple product launches accurately and, hence, all eyes are now on March 15.
