With the team behind the Attack on Titan anime series confirming that production for season 2 is already under way, it might be just few months away before the sci-fi thriller makes its much-awaited return on TV.

Apart from its mind-boggling plot, what make the Attack on Titan series appealing even to casual anime fans are the hardcore battles and pulsating scenes that leave viewers breathless for several seconds.

There won't be any much difference in Season 2 when it comes to adrenaline-pumping sequences. To be honest, the battles in the second part of the anime series will be so intense you are going to watch it over and over again on Youtube.

Then again, there can only be three battles that will surely leave a mark in Attack on Titan season 2. These particular scenes are picked as the bests not only because of the thrill it provide but also each have significance to the main story.

The Struggle at Castle Utgard (Chapter 38 - 41 in the manga): Surrounded by titans in an abandoned castle, the Survey Corps found themselves in a desperate situation. As if the approaching titans weren't enough, the appearance of the Ape titan demoralized everybody even more.

Facing the brink of defeat, Ymir came in to the rescue as the 'Dancing Titan,' which is arguably the fastest titan in the series. However, Ymir's decision to transform into her Titan form had her identity exposed to Bertolt and Reiner, who will soon show their true forms later in the series.

What to expect: Lots of revelation about the identity of Ymir, Bertolt and Reiner. The true nature of the titan will also be tackled, while the Ape titan will be making his first appearance.

Clash of the Titan in the Forest of Giant Trees (11th and 12 volume, Chapter 43 to 50): Probably the most compelling arc in Season 2, the Clash of the Titan saga will culminate in an all-out smackdown featuring Eren and the Survey Corps against Bertolt and Reiner as the Colossal and Armored titan, respectively.

Eren, now in full control of his titan form, will now test his mettle against more experienced titan shifters in Reiner and Bertolt. If memory serves me right, the Forest of Giant Trees is the exact location where the Female Titan (Annie) ran amok in Season 1.

What to expect: MMA titan action at its finest. Yes, the fight between Eren and Reiner will resemble a heavyweight mixed martial arts match that showcases punching and grappling techniques. This is also the saga where Eren unintentionally uses the ability to control the titans - one of the powers of the coordinate.

Uprising Arc (Battle at the Chapel - Chapter 60 to 68) - Rod Reiss, the true ruler of the walls, failed to convince her daughter Historia (Krista Lenz) to become the new holder of the coordinate by injecting a titan serum and eating Eren in her titan form.

At the time the Survey Corps arrived to save both Eren and Historia, the King of the Wall took the matters in his own hands instead by consuming the Titan Serum instead. Rod turned into a massive a titan (probably bigger than Bertolt's colossal titan, making him not only a threat to the Survey corps but the citizen of the Orvod District.

What to expect: Yep, this episode will be filled with revelations about Historia, Rod Reiss, Eren's father and the world. It might not be as explosive as the clash of the titans saga, but this particular arc provides the foundation for the entire story.
