As the NBA trade deadline fast approaches, it appears that Carmelo Anthony wants to stay in New York. Even if that means giving up a chance to play on the same team as his long time friend Lebron James.

This news comes in even after the rumor about a mega deal that would include the Knicks, Celtics, and Cavs, ESPN reported. The rumored deal involves sending Cleveland power forward Kevin Love to Boston and Carmelo Anthony to Cleveland. In return, the Knicks would receive some of Boston's drafts picks as well as Timofey Mozgov from Cleveland, New York Daily News reported.

However, if this trade would to go through, Anthony would have to willingly waive the no-trade clause in his contract. Anthony has stated in several interviews that while he is frustrated about not having any other real stars on the team besides himself, he is still committed to the New York Knicks organization.

The 31-year-old forward has always said that he would also like to keep his family in New York. This can be seen two years ago when Anthony was a free agent and still decided to re-sign with the Knicks.

The star player has also gone on record that while New York is one the best places in the world to live in, the media can certainly be over-zealous at times. Anthony also stated that he wants to win a championship in the Big Apple, as it is the best place in the world to do so.

Anthony is not the only person denying this mega trade, as it appears that Lebron James is also denying that the trade will go through. When asked about the possible trade over the All-Star weekend, James claimed that the report was total nonsense and absolutely not discussed.

Currently the Cleveland Cavilers are first in the standings in the Eastern Conference, while the Boston Celtics are third in the standings. The New York Knicks, on the other hand, currently have a losing record and are fighting to get back into playoff contention.
