If there is one killer feature that Google would want the Nexus 2016 flagship phone to have, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 is a definitive source of idea. Thanks to a leaked YouTube clip, the sequel to the Galaxy S6 is confirmed to unbox with waterproofing protection.
Waterproof is not exactly a new Samsung flagship element as the feature was included with the Galaxy S5 in 2014. But when the Galaxy S6 was given a premium case of metal and glass, the South Korean tech giant strangely discarded the protective feature.
But with the S7, waterproofing is back in full force with the plethora of new Galaxy flagship features. As shown in the video, Indonesian archer Dellie Threesyadinda was training under the rain and with a gorgeous smartphone that looked very similar with that of the Galaxy S6.
The GS6, however, is not laced with the same feature, which could only lead to the conclusion that in the official Samsung video teaser, a new function for the Galaxy S7 is being announced for the world to see, The Verge reported.
In the same campaign material, Samsung has practically affirmed the obvious - that its next big thing will be called the Galaxy S7 with its prettier taking the name Galaxy S7 Edge. And like their predecessors, the S7 and S7 Edge can be charged wirelessly.
Now everything about the new Galaxy flagship is Samsung saying that it intends to slug it out with the iPhone 6S and the upcoming iPhone 7, which is the same objective embraced by Google when the company was recently reported to take full control of the Nexus 2016 project, hardware-wise.
Google is gunning to disrupt Apple's smartphone rule and it's looking to do so by offering the next Nexus with both premium build and features. To that end, taking a page from the Galaxy S7 would be a good start as there is little doubt that a waterproofed Nexus 2016 would be a killer device.
And so is the metal unibody design of the LG G5 with its removable battery feature through the device's detachable bottom housing portion, which according to 9to5Google are fresh handset features essentially confirmed by a new set of leaked photos. Alongside with HTC and Huawei, LG is seen as possible Google partner for its Nexus 2016 project and the company is likely to reimagine the LG G5 to become the next Nexus.
It's hardly surprising that the Nexus 2016 could end up as the showcase device of the best that Android flagship smartphones can offer but Google is not giving out details - specifications and release dates - on the matter for now. Android fans though are expecting some solid information to come out right after the Google I/O event in late May or early June.
