No matter how it is called - iPhone 5SE or just iPhone SE - Apple's next iPhone release date is likely to happen no later than March 25 or a few days following the event that reports said is scheduled for staging at the tech giant's Cupertino Town Hall. Now the big question: Will the 4-inch new iPhone prove a compelling buy?
Listed below are the reasons to consider the device as the next iPhone buy:
One-hand use
The iPhone 5SE or SE will mirror the iPhone 5S 4-inch screen profile, which for long-time Apple fans will mean one thing - optimized for one-hand screen navigation. Reports have earlier suggested that a sizeable number of iPhone users have opted not to jump into the large-screen iPhones, somehow indicating that they prefer the smaller, easy to slip and out of the pocket old models.
A9 application processor
In his latest note, Ming-chi Kuo of KGI Securities said that like the iPhone 6S before it the iPhone SE main engine is the A9 mobile processor. This tells that small as the package will be, the next iPhone might and capabilities will be largely similar to that of its larger siblings.
NFC-enabled Apple Pay
And among the 6S power features likely to be extended to the iPhone SE is the NFC-powered Apple Pay, which ensures that users will enjoy the same convenience of wireless payment support that Apple had earlier introduced.
12-megapixel shooter
Another killer feature identical to the current iPhone flagship is a 12-megapixel main shooter. MacRumors' report on the matter did not specify the front cam details but it is likely that it is the same 5MP sensor found on the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus.
64GB storage space
Kuo also claimed that the iPhone 5SE will sell in 16GB and 64GB edition, the latter giving buyers the option of taking home a small device with significant amount of space to hold their precious digital files.
More battery juice
Another notable key feature upgrade for the iPhone SE is the battery, which Kuo said will jump to 1642mAh. It might be a slight jump from the iPhone 5S but it will surely deliver longer operating hours in a single charge.
iOS 9.3
The chance is high that with the new smallest of the iPhones, Apple will also debut iOS 9.3, which its beta versions suggest will include enhanced security protocols and the reader-friendly Night Shift mode.
New but lower sticker price
The iPhone 5SE or SE will join the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus as Apple's latest iPhone offerings. But unlike its big brothers, the 4-inch iPhone on release date will sell for no more than $500 a pop (or even lower and SIM-free) on release date, making it the cheapest and freshly-minted iPhone around.
