WBA jr. welterweight champion Adrien Broner was bolder than ever during Monday's press conference for his upcoming fight with Ashley Theophane, declaring himself as the successor to now retired Floyd Mayweather as the sport's biggest attraction.

"I want everyone to come out. Big brother Floyd Mayweather is gone, everyone else is too boring, so I'm taking over the sport," Broner told reporters via Sky Sports.

Broner, who is sporting a 31-2, record with 23 Kos, will be making his first defense since winning the vacant WBA jr. welterweight title against Russia's Khabib Allakhverdiev via TKO in the 12th round. However, it won't just any other fight for Broner, as he's facing one of the boxers being promoter by  Mayweather, whom he has close ties with.

"A lot of people told me I wouldn't be here. I come from nothing. Like cereal and water nothing. I'm very fortunate to have someone like Floyd to look up to. I don't want to be like Floyd though, I don't want to be like any man. I admire him and respect him, but I'm creating my legacy.

"At the end of the day, Floyd and Ashley aren't on my side. I'm against them. They're coming to dethrone me. They're my enemy right now and I'm going to beat Ashley down."

After conceding the British title to Darren Hamilton in 2012, Theophane moved his camp to Las Vegas, where he trained under the tutelage of Mayweather and his team.

The Paddington native racked up six consecutive victories to earn a date with Broner on April 1 at DC Armory in Washington, D.C.
