After the 9.7 inch iPad Pro release, formerly referred to as iPad Air 3, tech giant Apple is reportedly planning to launch smaller devices.
It seems that the fad for bigger screens is over and some people find it cumbersome to handle bigger devices. Apple is allegedly taking the other direction and is going for decreasing the size of their devices, according to Washington Post.
For the past years, there has been a trend towards phones and tablets with larger screens since people are spending more time with their mobile devices watching videos or using apps. However, larger screens proved to be a burden on our pockets and purses; thus, there is a demand for more portable devices.
Two smaller devices are expected to debut this month from Apple. The tech company will reportedly bring back a 4-inch smartphone dubbed as iPhone 5SE, which stands for "special edition". Apple is not a front runner when it comes to offering smartphones with huge screens. The rumored smartphone will reportedly include most of the high end features like higher iPhone models, except large screen and 3D Touch technology.
According to 9to5 Mac, Apple will also announce a new tablet this month at its supposed March 21 launching event. Contrary to the popular belief that the new tablet is the iPad Air 3, but new rumors claim that a smaller iPad Pro is on the way.
The 9.7 inch iPad Pro will reportedly cater to consumers that are looking for tablets with slightly smaller screen size than iPad Pro, but with the same specs and features with the bigger iPad Pro. Doing this is nothing new for the company as Apple has done this in 2011 when it discontinued the consumer-focused 13-inch MacBook and left the 13-inch MacBook Pro to fill its spot in the line-up. The MacBook Pro was aimed at professionals, but proved just as popular for consumers despite costing $200 more than the discontinued model.
Meanwhile, Apple has not revealed any of its future plans and no one knows certainly whether we will see a number of smaller devices from Apple soon.
