The Kardashian-Jenner clan of "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" will seemingly have a tough competition now, as Mariah Carey is set to star in a documentary series "Mariah's World" that will be aired on E! channel.
The eight-part docu-series will follow the 45-year-old singer as she goes on a tour in Europe and South Africa that began on March 15, Tuesday, while she plans her spring wedding to her billionaire fiancé. The filming for the show has already begun about two weeks ago when she was finishing up her Las Vegas stint.
The series is set to debut later this year, possibly by late summer. It is being produced by Bunim/Murray Productions, the same group behind "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," "I Am Cait" and "The Real World."
However, Jeff Jenkins from executive vice president of programming and development at Bunim/Murray has declared that "Mariah's World" will be shot differently than the company's other hit shows, in a form of documentary. Carey is also not ready to call her upcoming series a reality show.
"I refuse to call it a reality show," New York Times quoted the singer as saying. "I thought it would be a good opportunity to kind of, like, show my personality and who I am, even though I feel like my real fans have an idea of who I am."
While Carey's entourage, including her singers, dancers and her manager, will serve as her co-star in the show, her family will remain away from it. The singer has emphasized that neither her four-year-old twins nor will her billionaire boyfriend, James Packer, be filmed in the series.
Carey has also revealed that she will have a complete say over the materials that she does not want to be filmed.
On the personal front, Carey seems to be in a comfortable space. Her romance with the Aussie billionaire came to light in June last year, after which the two have remained almost inseparable. The two recently enjoyed a Mediterranean trip where they sailed around the Balearic Islands on Packer's lavish yacht, Daily Mail reported.
