The latest development on the subject was hinted by a recent report from South Korea, which claimed that Google will finalize the sequel to Android Marshmallow around June or July and by the latter month Android N will power a Samsung flagship out of the box. The device identified by a local media report as the Galaxy Note 6, BGR said.

The same report not only dropped the bombshell of an advanced Note 6 unboxing but more importantly it pointed to thing that excite the Android crowd - that the next Android will commence rolling out following Google's May I/O event and it will surely rock in a new Nexus handset.

Even as the Korean report indicated that the Galaxy Note 6 will be the first Samsung to get a taste of Android N, it is more likely that Google's new mobile operating system will fire up a Nexus device ahead of the sixth installment of the original phablet. And the most solid candidate would be the Nexus 7 2016 or the third version of Google's 7-inch tablet.

While the same report did not discuss the feature upgrades to come with the next Android and Nexus, the ongoing Developer Preview of the OS provided many hints. Testers have so far discovered of a new Android that has a redesigned user interface for a leaner look and faster navigation.

Specifically, the Settings and Notifications in Android have been reworked to make for a more straightforward mobile OS experience. Android N is also seen as more optimized for productivity use with new multitasking features like Split Screen and Freeform Mode. The former permits the simultaneous viewing of multiple apps while the later enables the dragging and resizing of app windows. Both are optimal for desktop-like environment that further fans the rumors of an impending Nexus tablet release.

As for the build of the third-generation Nexus 7 tab, speculations are rife that Huawei is the Google partner on the project. The Chinese device maker is believed to be assembling a Pure Android slate that is the scaled up version of the Nexus 6P, which indicates of premium finish and specifications.

And as the report from Asia has suggested, the Nexus 7 2016 release date will happen as early as June (with July as the latest outing) or a few weeks after the anticipated Android N revelation through Google's I/O event.
