Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon "Bones" Jones (21-1) is still looking to step inside the Octagon on April 23 for his rematch against reigning champion Daniel "DC" Cormier (17-1) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The 28-year old Jones however ran into legal troubles the past couple of days pertaining to an encounter with a police office in Albuquerque.

Jones figured in a heated exchange with law enforcement in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after being pulled over for alleged drag racing.

The former UFC champ was slapped with a ticket for drag racing as well as received citations for having a modified exhaust, swerving between lanes, exhibitionist driving, and covering his license plate's registration tag with a decorative cover.

Jones' verbal altercation with the police officer was caught on video. Jones called the police officer a "[expletive] liar" and a "pig."

Jones turned himself in to the police after a New Mexico judge issued a warrant for his arrest. The UFC is currently looking into the situation and it remains unclear how the legal issues will affect his fight with Cormier.

But despite the recent legal snafu, Jones still believes he'll be able to step into the cage at UFC 197 and in fact, still plans to get right back to training as soon as he gets out of jail.

"Today, I had some of the best workouts I've had all camp," Jones said in a Tweet. "I've trained too hard and come too far to let anything get to me at this point."

Jones lambasted the police officer for picking on him, claiming the officer knew who he was and that it affected his judgement.

"No, you're not just doing your job," said Jones. "You're [expletive] picking this Corvette out for no reason. Blaming me for all this [expletive] that you know isn't true."

Jones later apologized for his behavior in an interview with Ariel Helwani, saying he was emotional and regrets what he said.

"I regrettably said words to the police officer out of frustration, for which I apologize for, but I do feel this was excessive," Jones said in a statement.
