Die Fohlen is coming off a disappointing 1-2 loss in the hands of fourth-running Schalke 04 at the Veltins Arena on March 18th as the team began to struggle at this stage of the season, as per ESPN.

An own goal from Austrian defender Martin Hinteregger gave the hosts the opening goal of the match one minute before the hour mark.

Danish defender Andreas Christensen was able to equalize the game at the 79th for head coach André Schubert's side, but Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka nailed the winner seven minutes before the full time whistle to snatch the three points away from the Borussians.

Fifth-placed Monchengladbach has alternated victories and winless games in their last six outings. This mercurial performance had kept them from barging into the top four of the league table, which are the qualification spots for next season's Champions League competitions.

With the loss, Die Borussen was overtaken by Schalke for the fourth spot in the overall standings as they went down by two points from Die Knappen.

Meanwhile, third-running Hertha Berlin nipped newly-promoted club FC Ingolstadt, 2-1, at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin on March 19th, as reported by Vavel.

After a goalless first half, things got heated up in the second as Die Alte Dame's Japanese winger Genki Haraguchi started the scoring at the 54th minute with a right-footed shot from center box off an assist from teammate Marvin Plattenhardt.

Hertha doubled the lead at the 69th with a goal from Ivorian striker Salomon Kalou, this time assisted by Haraguchi.

Ingolstadt managed to score a consolation goal at the 75th courtesy of Austrian forward Lukas Hinterseer to avoid a shutout.

The predicted result is a close 2-1 road win for Hertha Berlin. The capital city squad will hold firm their grasp to third place in the league table as the season winds down to a close.
