On April 1, Friday, the publication revealed the names of the stellar voice cast of new "Berserk" anime series. To name a few, the cast includes Hiroaki Iwanaga as Guts, Yoko Hikasa as Farnese, Kaoru Mizuhara as Puck, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Serpico, Toa Yukinari as Casca, Hiro Shimono as Isidro and Unshou Ishizuka will be the storyteller of the new anime TV series, Anime News Network reported.

Based on the Japanese manga series written by Kentaro Miura, the story centers on the characters of a lone mercenary named Guts and Griffith, a pioneer of a mercenary band called the "Band of the Hawk."

With Japanese anime director, Shin Itagaki, helming the venture, fans should be delighted to note that the upcoming anime will showcase something new that fans did not see before. In fact, the manga creator himself said that the new anime will delineate Guts in his "Black Swordsman" appearance, which is only revealed in parts of the manga that go beyond any previously animated "Berserk" story.

Aside from that, the said appearance has only been briefly hinted in the first and last episode of the 1997 television anime series of "Berserk." The new series will apparently be animated using computer-generated imagery (CGI) as opposed to the previous series' traditional animated style.

The new anime series' staff includes Makoto Fukami, who is supervising the scripts in collaboration with Takashi Yamashita, while "Gunslinger Girl" Hisashi Abe is responsible for the character designs, and Shiro Sagisu for the composing the music.

As of this writing, the total number of episodes of the new "Berserk" anime is yet to be revealed. Nonetheless, it has been reported that it would be broadcast on the WOWOW channel and in MBS TV's "Animeism" programming block in July, The HNGN has learned.

Liden Films is said to be credited for the production, while Millepensee and GEMBA are also credited for the animation production. It has been reported that the anime will have a stage event amid the Anime Japan 2016 event this weekend.
