Imgur has released a new tool that can help turn online videos into a wonderful animated GIF, in which, Imgur's video to GIF tool gives other available tool out there a run for their money.
Using the Video to GIF is very easy even for technologically challenge individual. In its website, Imgur explains the procedure in details and it is pretty self-explanatory. First step is for the user to copy the video URL that the user wants, and then paste it on the Video to GIF site. After that, the video will play on the site. The GIF you created can last from a half second to a maximum of 15 seconds wherein text can also be added.
At the lower right side of the page is where the "Create GIF" button located. Clicking the button will convert your videos to GIF. If the video to be converted is bigger than 10 MB, it will be converted instead to a GIFV file. A GIFV file is an MP4 video that acts like a GIF, Digital Trends reported.
At the Imgur website, you will be introduced to the world of GIF conversion, in which, you will see a GIF file using the 24 images of The Horse in Motion. To guide you in your GIF conversion, Imgur uses the music video "Got My Mind Set on You," starring the former Beatle George Harrison. The site cautions that the video file to be converted is limited to 1GB only.
The GIF creator admits that their online tool can only be used in desktops and not on mobile phones. The GIF conversion tool certainly needs improvement. It was reported that there are difficulties in selecting the starting GIF conversion time.
Aside from the Imgur tool, there are other GIF conversions tools that are available such Imgflip, GIFMaker and GIF YouTube.
