The 16-episode “Descendants of the Sun’ officially ended on April 14, but even its 3-day compilation series continues to rule the airwaves of South Korea and China.
At KBS 2TV, the first of the three-episode special which aired on Wednesday got a viewership of 17.7 percent. It is more than twice what “Goodbye, Mr. Black,” the second-most viewed show, got at 8.1 percent. In the capital city of Seoul, the viewership was 20.8 percent, according to Nielsen Korea, reported Yonhap.
The third program that premiered on Wednesday, “Entertainer,” over SBS, had only 6.2 percent of TV viewers, showing that the drama to replace “Descendants of the Sun” in the hearts of South Korean and Chinese fans is yet to premiere.
Meanwhile, the clamor for more of “Descendants of the Sun” continues to be shown by fans of the hallyu. This time, it’s the turn of Song Joong-ki’s fans to show their creative side by placing word balloons on stills taken from the TV show and posting it on Instagram.
The spoof not only features the Song couple, but also Jin Goo. Among the fans of the show who have posted the comic strips is AhPheng8 whose posts, so far, has received more than 500 likes.
