Finally, Yukihira Soma got the chance he has long been waiting for as he has now the opportunity to dethrone the current 1st seat, Tsukasa Eishi. However, fans have to wait until next week to find out if Soma is victorious as Weekly Shonen Jump is currently on break.
The previous chapter started with a flashback of Soma's days under the tutelage of batch 79 1st seat, Kojiro Shinomiya. Tsukasa and Soma are engaged in a battle of who can come up with the better French cuisine. Soma used venison leg meat along with a secret ingredient in peeled sweetened chestnuts.
Tsukasa is mystified with Yukihira's unorthodox style of cooking, praising him along the way. Soma told him to get ready for another surprise. Later on, Erina and the others watching remarked that Soma is definitely working on a new French cuisine only he could pull off.
Another flashback ensues with the French master chef Shinomiya commending Soma for his talent and he wants the kid to join him and see the view from the top. The chapter ends with Soma's dish finally cooked as he served it to his opponent.
Now, fans over at Manga Helpers speculate on what they think would transpire in "Shokugeki no Soma" chapter 165 and it is believed that Soma will be victorious against Eishi. However, Akia999 wrote in the forum that this match will have no bearing to Eishi's standing as the top dog in Central.
Despite being impressed by Soma's cooking via foodgasm, Soma will also get to taste the senior's cooking and he will see the difference in their skill level. This will establish the rivalry between Tsukasa and Soma, with a deciding match probably happening when Central and Soma's group collide for one last time, the user added.
Meanwhile, fans over at Reddit believe that Shinomiya's flashback of Soma acknowledging him as prodigy will go to waste if Soma suffers defeat. Thus, Soma will win and this will force Eishi to nullify the bet, user ag487 wrote in the forum.
