Supermodel Kate Upton has announced her engagement with longtime boyfriend Justin Verlander. The bride-to-be shared the good news during the 2016 Met Gala event.
Upton proudly displayed her striking engagement ring that was personally designed by her fiancée, E! News confirmed. According to the model-actress, she and Verlander decided to keep their engagement private for a time before the announcement. She claimed that she is very excited to share the news to everyone.
"I'm really excited, he asked me right before season started so we've been keeping it on the down low for quite a while," Upton said of her engagement with Verlander during the interview with the publication.
Upton confirmed that she and Verlander are enjoying their time as an engaged couple, and they are not in a rush to tie-the-knot anytime soon. She dated the Detroit Tigers pitcher for more than three years before the couple got engaged in March, CBC revealed.
Upton and Verlander met during the making of a video game commercial in 2012. Before they went public, the couple kept their relationship under wraps for some time. They only revealed their romance during their vacation in St. Thomas in January of 2013. Since then, the two have been together, despite split rumors that have been circulating for years.
The Sports Illustrated model dated Maksim Chmerkovskiy for a quick time when she and Verlander called off their relationship in 2013. The same year, they got back together. Since then, they never have been apart from each other.
They were often seen spending time in and out of the country. During Upton's 22nd birthday bash, Verlander was present in the party together with her family. The couple was also seen traveling several times in various countries.
Last summer, Upton and Verlander were seen in Cancun before the 2015 baseball season started.The supermodel has been an avid supporter of her fiancée, who has been with the Detroit Tigers since 2005.
For Upton and Verlander's fans, they still have to wait for a major announcement for the couple's wedding date. No details about the wedding have been released yet.
