The cast of SBS' upcoming medical drama "Doctors" recently got together for the first script reading. Hence, fans are now getting some full details about the drama's plot and characters.


On April 28, director Oh Choong Hwan and screenwriter Ha Myung Hee were joined by lead actors Kim Rae Won, Park Shin Hye, Yoon Gyun Sang, Lee Sung Kyung, Kim Young Ae and Ji Soo at SBS' Ilsan Production Studios in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea, to go over the script, Soompi reported. It is said that the principal script meeting was held in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

"Doctors" recounts the story of a romance ensue between a cynical wayward gangster, Yoo Hye Jung (Shin Hye) and a warm and gifted neurosurgery specialist, Dr. Hong Ji Hong (Rae Won). With Hong's help, Hye Jung gradually transforms into a compassionate doctor.

Although Rae Won's character is bold and sociable, it was learned that he had a guarded heart due to a series of grievous misfortunes in the past. His parents died in a car accident when he was young and lost a patient when he was still a first-year medical resident, resulting in a drastic career change.

"Pinocchio" Yoon is up to play the free-spirited doctor, Jung Yoon Doo, who later fall in love with Hye Jung. "Cheese in the Trap" Lee will be playing Jin Seo Woo, a fellow neurosurgeon who is overcome with jealousy after Hye Jung seemingly takes away the love of her life and close friends in high school.

Further, Young Ae plays Hye Jung's grandmother, who is said to be loving despite her tough words. Ji Soo has also been cast as Hye Jung's first love in high school, Soo Chul, who later leaves a major impact on her life.

The drama also stars You Da In, Kim Min Suk, Moon Ji In, Yoon Hae Young, Jang Hyun Sun, Eom Hyo Seop, Jeon Kuk-Hwan, Lee Ho Jae, Jung Hae-Kyun. "Miracle in Cell No. 7" child actress Kal So Won is also up to play the younger version of Hye Jung, Drama Beans has learned.

"Doctors" is expected to hit airwaves after "The Royal Gambler" ends its run on June 20. The drama is poised to take over the SBS Mondays-Tuesdays 22:00 (KST) time slot. Check out the video below:
