Red Hot Chilli Peppers vocalist Anthony Keidis, 53, was hospitalized due to stomach flu. This resulted to the cancellation of their anticipated Weenie Roast gig but the setback is minor as they are still poised to release their new album later this year.

Kiedis was immediately rushed to a hospital after complaining of severe stomach pains, fortunately, he is expected to make a complete recovery very soon, New York Daily News reported. The band was supposed to be the headliners of the KROQ's annual festival and due to the unfortunate incident, Weezer took the honor of performing in the main event.

Bassist Michael "Flea" Balzary was upset for not being able to perform but the health of his band mates comes first so the band was not be able to perform in the iHeart Radio Concert happening on May 17, Tuesday. Drummer Chad Smith also expressed his disappointment on Twitter for not being able to perform for their fans and he also wished for a speedy recovery for Kiedis.


Nevertheless, the band is set to release their new album titled "The Getaway" and for fans craving for some details on their new LP, Keidis felt that this album is a lot better compared to their previous albums. As of this writing, "Dark Necessities" is the first single made available to the public via digital retailers.

"The torture about doing this [show] is that we've been writing new music for the last year, and we've written some songs that I feel are as good as any songs we've ever written," Kiedis told Rolling Stone. He added that Danger Mouse is "very good about coming up with super-modern ideas, but he'll also touch on the acoustic guitar in the control room and strip the song down to its acoustic essentials."

Flea told the publication that there will be songs that fans can dance to due to its funky nature while there will also be songs that will be "deep and pretty." The album is set for release on June 17. Listen to "Dark Necessities" below:
