Food and beverage giant PepsiCo conducted a free professional nutrition counseling for Chinese consumers located across eight cities and provinces of China on May 15. The event was done in celebration of the second annual National Nutrition Week.

PepsiCo recently introduced its Quaker brand. In partnership with the Chinese Nutrition Society (CNS), it is aiming to produce scientific concepts toward better health and nutrition among Chinese consumers. The goal of the partnership is to effectively promote a nutritious and well-balanced diet in line with the national health goal.

"Quaker attaches great importance to nutritional education, and PepsiCo hopes that through the promotion of Quaker's three advantages of oats--heart health, intestinal health, and energy fuel--more Chinese families can recognize the nutritional value of whole grains and Quaker Oats," said Michael Lindsey, PepsiCo Greater China's general manager for Nutrition Category and Commercialization.

Meanwhile, the Global Times reported that President Yang Yuexin of CNS praised PepsiCo for assuming an active role in letting consumers know more about the benefits of whole grains toward better health and wellness.

Liu Feng, the associate director of PepsiCo GCR's Nutrition Research, presented an analytical look at the advantages of Quaker Oats, which include being a good source of vitamin B, protein, carbohydrates, dietary fibers and minerals.

In 2015, PepsiCo's Quaker brand and CNS already did a collaborative project during the PepsiCo Nutrition in Action. It was a charity program which gave healthy meals for school kids residing in the poor areas of Zhaotong in Yunnan Province. China Foundation for Poverty Alleviation was also part of the team last year.

Yang said that their organization welcomes companies who would like to be proactive in terms of contributing to the national health education of Chinese families. He said that they are gearing toward health promotion and education of the Chinese people about the importance of balanced diets.
