Introduced in 2003 as an MP3 manufacturing company, Chinese tech brand Meizu is one of the few smartphone newcomers causing quite a stir in the tight and cut-throat industry. The Chinese brand, which is currently based in Guangdong, China, started producing smartphones in 2008 and their models have gained traction and popularity ever since.

In April, Meizu unveiled yet another handset in their flagship line - the Meizu PRO 6. The Meizu PRO 6 is arguably one of the most exciting phone releases of this year. The phone is the first device that is equipped with an impressive 10-core processor across the globe.

The release of the Meizu PRO 6 is undoubtedly exciting. However, mere weeks since the announcement, rumors of an upcoming Meizu phone have made its way online. According to reports, the new phone, touted as Meizu Pro 6 Edge, has all the trappings of the Pro 6 - only with a curved screen.

A recent report by Mobipicker featured a leaked image of the speculated Meizu PRO 6 Edge. The publication attributed the leaked image to Chinese tech insider, Mocha RQ.

Aside from the leaked image, a report by My Drivers details a few information about the upcoming curved screen Meizu phone. According to the publication, the Meizu PRO 6 Edge is indeed currently in production; however, the phone may be called PRO 7 instead of PRO 6 Edge. Furthermore, the report suggests that the upcoming handset may be powered by the latest generation Flyme 6 system.

Gathered information about the upcoming Meizu phone remains speculative. Nevertheless, it is expected that the PRO 6 Edge or PRO 7 would arrive before the end of this year and may sell for less than $500.

The Meizu Pro 6 was unveiled earlier in April and is expected to be available for purchase in the next few days - certainly before end of May. It is equipped with a Mediatek MT6797T Helio X25 Chipset and a 21 MP rear camera. Upon its release, the Meizu PRO 6 would be going for less than $500, similar to the expected price range of the Meizu PPRO 6 EDGE or Meizu PRO 7.
