Following the reports that Lenovo is rebranding the Moto X flagship smartphone to Moto Z in time for the 2016 release date, the Moto X Pure Edition hit Amazon at killer price of only $299. The new deal only adds up to the mounting speculations that the next Moto unboxing is near and likely to happen as early as June.
The Moto X Pure Edition Amazon sale pointed to by BGR involves the 16GB unlocked edition, indicating that the handset is compatible with most networks in the United States and abroad. When ordered, Amazon will ship the unit at no cost and quick as possible as the deal is under the Prime shipping category.
Motorola lists the Moto X PE specs as the following: a 5.7-inch QHD display, 21MP main shooter that can record 4K clips, guarantee of all-day battery life with quick charging support and the flagship feature of liquid protection that shields the device from harm to be brought by water splash.
But likely the biggest selling point of the Moto X Pure Edition is the near-vanilla Android that the device unboxes with. The phone is the next best thing to Nexus with the virtually the same Android experience at a dirt-cheap price tag.
And with the decent specs packed with the 2015 Moto X, BGR said the device remains a worthy challenger to the likes of Samsung Galaxy S7 and HTC 10. But with the two Android flagships asking for more than $600, for many Android fans the choice is easy as the same price level will get two Moto X units with nearly the same capabilities.
Now, the latest Moto X 2015 deal signals too that the arrival of the sequel is near as the maker of the device appears to speed things up and sell as many old model as possible before the fresh one is unpacked. In a report, 9to5Google said that Lenovo has registered Moto Z as a trademark, which indicates two things - that the switch from Moto X to Z is all but confirmed and that the device rollout is happening real soon.
The report also echoed the earlier leaks that claimed two variants will hit the market - a Moto Z Style that is powered by the high-end Snapdragon 820 and the more affordable Moto Z Play that will on SD 620, also a Qualcomm chip.
As for the actual Moto X (Moto Z) 2016 release date, the consensus is it will be right after the June 9 event scheduled by Lenovo in San Francisco.
