Now that "Grimm" Season 5 wrapped up, fans are wondering what could be the next move for Captain Renard (Sasha Roiz). Seemingly, days are over for Renard to play hero since the "Grimm's" Captain is set to become a villain again in Season 6.
The wesen revolution is gathering steam up in the Pacific Northwest. Amid briefly playing friends with Scooby Gang earlier this year, Renard chose to throw his lot in with Black Claw. According to Roiz, a comeback to the dark for his character is long overdue.
Speaking to fans at JIBLand in Rome, Roiz teased that he was requesting producers for some time to make Renard a bad person again, or at least break away from the group. The actor believed that it was nice that fans did not know what his allegiance was. Furthermore, it was more fascinating when Renard was in the gray zone, where people knew little about him.
Over time, Renard became predictable when he constantly helped Nick (David Giuntoli) and the gang. From Roiz's point of view, Black Claw and Hadrian's Wall would be enough to take their antagonism to the next level. The actor does not want Black Clack to take over, although it would be great to see a "full out war."
"Grimm" Season 5 left Renard's allegiance unknown; blood dripping from is sword as he gazed at Bonaparte's corpse. Similarly, Meisner died in Season Finale.
In an interview with TVLine, executive producers David Greenwalt and James Kouf were asked why they thought it were the right time for Meisner to die in the finale. Kouf said that it was just reality, especially since Black Claw tricked their people into leaving HW unguarded, or short of a few men, and that is what they were looking for: an opportunity to get in. As they moved in, Meisner happened to be there and he could not evade death.
When the show returns next fall, the Captain will still be caught in the final scene, only that he will face off with Nick. In addition, one sure way to get the detective and Diana is to threaten his family.
Giuntoli told TV Insider, "He's face to face with Renard, so this could go two ways. Will there be a negotiation? Will Nick think this through? Or is he so furious at Renard for taking his child away that he'll just go crazy?"
"Grimm" Season 6 returns to NBC this fall. Here is footage for the latest episode.
