Android N: Samsung devices to get the update in the last quarter of 2016; HTC devices to get it in December 2016

According to many reports, Android N update will rollout on Samsung's devices in the last quarter of 2016. Also, HTC devices will get the new update in December this year.

Reports indicate that most Samsung Galaxy devices will receive the Android N update during the fourth quarter of 2016. Some of the Samsung devices that will receive the Android N update include the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Note 5, S6 Edge, S6, S7 and S7 Edge, SamMobile reported.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 Edge, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 6 will receive the Android N update once they hit the market. However, other reports suggest that the Samsung devices will get the latest update in the first quarter of next year.

Rumors are doing the rounds that the HTC devices will receive the Android N early. When Android M was rolled out, the tech company was fast to adopt the operating system and got it to their devices by December, which came only two months after Google released it. Now according to new reports, users will receive the Android N update on their devices by December 2016.

The software giant Google has not decided on an official name for Android N yet.  At present, the Android N is undergoing beta testing and is anticipated to release in the fourth quarter of 2016.

According to several reports, Nexus will get the Android N update first. The device is expected to get the final iteration of the operating system by August or September. At present, it is in its fourth preview stage that involves final APIs and SDK.

Meanwhile, according to reports, Google Nexus phones will not run pure Android anymore. Google may not make its own Nexus smartphones in the future. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, said that no matter how interesting a pure Nexus smartphone may sound, Google does not actually need to do that to fight off the tech company Apple.

Pichai further said that the company will be more involved in the design of upcoming Google Nexus devices and Nexus tablets and handsets will not necessarily offer users a stock Android experience.

Google will invest more efforts into overseeing Nexus products, and it will be more opinionated about the design of Nexus smartphones, The Verge reported.
