"Rocket League" from Psyonix is about to get two new DLC cars on July 18. However, these cars are not brand new, by definition, because they are very familiar, fan-favorite cars.
These upcoming DLC cars, which are actually from Rocket League's less famous predecessor called "Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket Powered Battle Cars," have been recreated and re-mastered for this version of the motor-soccer video game, according to Attack of the Fanboy. Nevertheless, these two upcoming DLC cars, Aftershock and Marauder, were fan-favorites during their time.
Starting July 18, these cars can be downloadable for the general public at $1.99 each. On the other hand, those who bought the physical collector's edition of the game will have early access to these DLC cars. The collector's edition reportedly come with all currently available downloadable content in addition to exclusive items.
It should be noted that the upcoming cars reportedly indeed have obviously enhanced stats particularly in turning speed and hit box size, however, the developer assures that these enhancements will not throw the game out of balance.
The entertainment news site also noted that even if many DLC packs have been made available for "Rocket League," there are gamers who still prefer to choose cars from the base game and other earlier DLC packs.
Meanwhile, "Rocket League" is an innovative vehicle soccer game developed and published by Psyonix, which was released in 2015. It was initially released digitally for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 4 in July last year. Now, the game is also available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Microsoft Windows, Linux, Mac OS.
This indie game quickly became a smash-hit according to Forbes. Before the end of 2015, this game had raked in $70 million from 4 million copies sold. The revenue reportedly keeps growing with more than 5 million copies of the base game alone sold and downloaded on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham told the online news site, "Our numbers are actually going up, not down, which is not very common for a game that's ten months old."
Dunham added, "Thanks to PlayStation Plus at launch, those numbers are really front-loaded in the beginning."
As for the DLC, sales Psyonix has already seen over 5 million units sold to date. With two new car DLCs coming next month, Psyonix ix can expect to see more sales pouring in.
