During his first two seasons as head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, Jason Kidd has guided the team to 90 losses. That hasn't deterred management from wanting him to remain in control the team for the next couple of years. Bucks management has finalized a deal that will pay Kidd $18 million over the next three seasons. The former NBA point guard still had a year left on his original three deal pact.

The Milwaukee Bucks are signing Jason Kidd to a contract extension because they have the future in mind. He's done a tremendous job in building up Khris Middleton, Jabari Parker and Giannis Antetokounmpo as building blocks. Once those guys start getting close to their primes, the Bucks are going to be a serious contender in the NBA.

Jason Kidd is also being tasked with developing Giannis Antetokounmpo into being one of the most dominant players in the NBA. His combination of size, athleticism and versatility is something that the league has never seen before. Antetokounmpo is filled with all sorts of potential. If Kidd can help him reach that, then he'll be worth every penny that the Milwaukee Bucks pay him.

There were talks that Jason Kidd was looking to receive the same front office powers as Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy, who has the final say in personnel. However, with the new contract extension with the Milwaukee Bucks, it appears that Kidd simply wants to be a head coach. Milwaukee already has Justin Zanik in place as the assistant general manager. Zanik is being groomed to take over as the Bucks general manager some day once John Hammond decides to step away.

For better or worse, the Milwaukee Bucks are now committed to Jason Kidd. He's going to be the head coach as they move into a fancy new stadium. That means that the Bucks are hoping that Kidd can sell Milwaukee fans for the foreseeable future.
