One of the more interesting narratives in NBA Free Agency this summer is the pursuit of point guards.

There is a lot of money (the salary cap spiked to $ 94 million instead of the anticipated $ 90 million) and only a handful of point guards to be signed. This is the best opportunity for players like Jeremy Lin to choose the best situation.

One option that has not been hyped as much is the Indiana Pacers. The Pacers have a need for a point guard since their guards are more of scorers (George Hill, Monta Ellis, Rodney Stuckey) and Lin could fit in well with any of those players.

As Inquisitr mentioned, "he could very well be a 'Plan B' type of option to Mike Conley." The Indiana native Conley is considered the best free agent point guard this year and he will have a horde of suitors like the Knicks, Spurs, Nets and of course, his own team the Memphis Grizzlies.

Lin's combination of having the ability to create and his unselfish nature makes him the best running mate for Pacers' superstar Paul George. The Pacers have committed themselves to running an up-tempo offense moving forward, and Lin would fit right in.

Pursuing Lin would be a more reasonable course of action for Larry Bird and company. Hoops Rumors listed them as possible candidates who would trade for Derrick Rose.

Even that option would entail competition for them because of the recent rumor that the New York Knicks also has interest for the former MVP. For the Pacers to pursue other trade options like Jeff Teague, they may have to part with solid assets and future draft picks.

Recent reports had the Charlotte Hornets not being very committed to bring back Jeremy Lin despite his stellar play. This could be the window of opportunity for the Pacers but they need to show Lin that they could present the best basketball situation.

They do have a superstar in Paul George and Indiana's defense could make up for Lin's supposed weakness on the other end of the court. Perhaps one possible selling point for Lin would be trading off Monta Ellis. If the Pacers could accomplish that, they could guarantee Lin's minutes.
