Despite being successful among fans, "Game of Thrones" season 6 has some serious and big problems with it. One of the biggest problems is with the 'White Walkers,' who are so powerful, yet have not been allowed to do anything in the show so far.
While the White Walkers may seem unstoppable, unbeatable and a terrifying force of nature, the "Game of Thrones" might soon find itself struck because of these characters from Beyond the Wall. There are two reasons that might force these visually appealing characters to spell a doom for HBO's hit fantasy epic, according to Digital Spy.
First, the White Walkers are only superficially attached to whatever is going on in the "Game of Thrones" Season 6. The show has been running for six wonderful years and the White Walkers were introduced in the very first episode as a substantial threat in the opening scene.
However, the Night's King and his merciless hordes have not done anything much since then. Even though the show runners have done a brilliant job building the anticipation and the feeling of upcoming menace while keeping the threat at bay, it now feels like the White Walkers are not being used efficiently because there is not much scope to do that.
The reality is that the White Walkers do not fit in the storyline completely. They are difficult entities to use in the storyline of the show. The entire theme of the show is based on the Iron Throne and the person who will end up sitting on it, be it a Lannister, Bolton, Tyrell or Stark.
This leaves no scope for the White Walkers to fit in as they have no stake in the throne. Moreover, the entire theme of the show is about betrayal, murder, deceit and subterfuge and the White Walkers have nothing to do with it.
Secondly, the White Walkers are indestructible, which is quite evident from 'Hardhome.' The hordes are similar to zombies, and therefore the name "walkers." For every warrior that is killed from either of the land in the Seven Kingdoms, there is one white walker added to the existing team.
In such a scenario, why the showrunners decided to include them in the show remains the biggest mystery. May be, David Benioff and Dan Weiss have different plans for the White Walkers. They might be planning to unleash the mighty force of the White Walkers in the finale and stand them in a battle for the Westeros.
The White Walkers might end up casting a shadow among the entire series before rising up in the final act. That way, the show might not be wasting them, but saving them for the last.
The White Walkers were created by the Children of the Forest, according to TIME. They can walk through fire, see greenseers and have a leader.
