Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant is set to become one of the most coveted free agents in NBA history on July 1. According to the latest rumors, Durant will give the Golden State Warriors and the two teams in Los Angeles a chance to convince him to join their team this summer.

The Thunder had a very good season but they came up short in their goal of winning the NBA championship. Nonetheless, they proved to Durant that they can compete in the Western Conference by exposing the San Antonio Spurs and putting the Warriors on the brink of elimination.

It has been rumored for the past couple of weeks that the 2014 MVP will likely stay in Oklahoma City and sign a two-year deal with a player option after one season. However, Durant will still explore all of his options including meeting with the Warriors, Lakers and Clippers.

According to the New York Daily News, the 27-year-old is expected to sign with the Warriors if he decides to leave Oklahoma City. If he joins Golden State, Durant will create a superteam with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green that will rule the Western Conference, and possibly the entire NBA for the next five years or so.

On the other hand, the seven-time All-Star will also meet with the Clippers and Lakers to hear what they can bring to the table. It should be noted that Durant has a home in Los Angeles and the city is one of the biggest markets in the NBA.

The Lakers have the money to offer but they are full of young players. Even if Durant joins the team, they are not considered title contenders and it will take them several years to become one. As for the Clippers, they will have to clear some cap space to sign Durant.

According to CBS Sports, the four-time scoring champ will not be having a recruitment tour and he will only entertain teams that are worth talking to. He has stated that his fate in free agency will come down to a basketball decision.

The Thunder still has the best chance to sign him this summer but the Warriors will be aggressive in their chase following an epic collapse. The Lakers and Clippers will be happy to know they can get a meeting while the Spurs are a dark horse.
